The Wounded Warrior Project helps support the DS/USA program so it can provide the courses and competitions free of charge to severely wounded veterans and their families. Wounded veterans also can be trained in advanced courses so they can compete in Paralympic events and other advanced competitions. The program is not only for veterans, but the DS/USA Warfighter Sports program has made sports rehabilitation available to more than 1,200 severely wounded veterans, the website states. The DS/USA chapters hold clinics in 40 sports, including golf, sailing, climbing, camping, waterskiing, track and field, fishing, equestrian courses, canoeing, kayaking and wake boarding, as well as winter sports.
